Answer may be “YES” or may be “NO” or “ don’t know”.

Let us pause for a moment in the race of success or career and look back. Go back to the era of your academics and re-collect….. how many of you had different personality and how many of you had similar. And how they are placed now with respect to their career.

If it is difficult to go back , look around you and notice that how many people move up in the career ladder faster despite being question mark on intelligence, sincerity, skills, knowledge and so on.

We may assign many different factors to success of different people but one common factor beyond doubt will be assigned as “PERSONALITY” and you will say….

Shaping of personality can be attributed to variety of influences, genetic effects, social upbringing and gained experiences.

Hope , it is clear that what is personality and why career path growth can be attributed to it.

We have innate strength i.e. strength from birth, like intelligence, learning capability, analytical and so on. And we take into account such innate strength when it comes to decide about being successful. Most of the parameter are attached to these while talking about successful career or hight remuneration. But, here is a caution, these innate strength changes its colour for different personality.

There is no right and wrong personality traits of success. It’s all about being aware and being judgemental of what is needed you as an individual to be the best performer.

Looking into workplace dynamics, following personality traits is essential to mention:

Consistency:

It depicts regularity of the behaviour where people act or react in the same way or in a similar way in variety of situation.

Assertiveness:

Marked as an ability to influence others and heard by others. It is critical in boosting the presence with clear vision, value and thought process. This keeps on getting summed up over the time.

Humility:

It means being humble. It can be described what is ranked low by others. It is defined by self-awareness, appreciation for others and an emphasis on a learning culture. It is demonstrated for a job which you feel is low and you are willing to roll up your sleeves and work together.

Self-Assurance

Have you heard your inner voice which tells you ‘hey, you are not good in handling this situation….’,‘if I participate here I am sure I will win…’, ‘ she is doing fantastic but I can never do like her….’ and so on. We all have self-limiting beliefs, including most successful people. Differentiator is who challenges his inner belief making it wealer and who listens his inner belief adding strength to it. People lacking self-assurance faces problem is creating/generating trust and confidence.

Self-awareness:

When it comes to knowing about your weakness it is self-awareness. Knowing your weakness not only encourages you to form an alternate strategy but also protects you in a situation when you are trying to fly high and going closer to the sun.

Emotional Stability:

Emotional unstable person will experience stress and dramatic shift in mood, feels anxious, worries about different things, easily gets upset and finally struggles to bounce back after stressful situation.

Influential:

This is an ability to influence, connect and build relationship with others. These ability may come naturally but can be built by practice. This ability assists in developing trust and establishing a communication with others so that they work for you and against you.

Positive Attitude:

A positive attitude brings optimism in your day to day work and in your life. It makes easier to fight with worries and negativity. A positive attitude plays a constructive role to make your life and career happier, brighter and more successful.

It is to clarify that some of the personality traits drives the success but at the same time if left un-attended can be disruptive for the career. If someone is cautious will drive well in the arena of risk management and short term result can be good, but if the same becomes over cautious, will be driving him to risk-averse personality. Means being cautious is/may be good but being over cautious may derail to take up challenging and innovative career.

Looking into another one, being excitable will help you to demonstrate a passionate and enthusiastic personality and over exposure to the same will make you unpredictable and volatile.

Now it is easy to conclude that your personality take the front driving seat when it come to drive you the road of success.

It has been believed with conviction that Personality, which is mostly stable and inherited cannot be altered. But personality science and practical experience has proved it beyond doubt that personality can be changed, can be altered through persistent intervention and major life events like changing of thought process.

Hence, looking at your personality very minutely and planning for change can be part of your successful career.

The moment you focus on learning your personality, you start recognizing the positive aspect of it as well as negative aspect and you get start getting an edge. You start building over your positive and reduction of negative.
